Run Away... Scrape!

I Love Texas History!  There, I admitted it.  I love the fact that we can show so much pride in the state in which we live, all while learning about the intracacies, themes, concepts, and skills necessary to be great social scientists.  Recently in our 7th Grade Texas History class, we have learned of 'Runaway Scrape' and the horrific events that took place in Texas shortly after the Fall of the Alamo.  As Texans scattered across Texas to avoid Santa Anna and his Mexican Army, famous "Texians" (yes that is spelled correctly, at least in the 1800's it would have been) were planning one of the most infamous battles that our great state would face.  It would eventually be at the Battle of San Jacinto that our Texians would defeat the great Mexican Army and capture the infamous Santa Anna.  Below you will find a collection of PCMS student-created newspaper columns from a fictional newspaper we created called The Harrisburg Gazette (named after the city that occupied the area we now know as Houston).

D.P. creates a newspaper column that actually "feels" like a newspaper!

S.B. (one of Chrysalis' infamous artists) creates her own images using her extensive knowledge of 'Runaway Scrape'

E.R. utilizes technology to help capture the feelings, thoughts, and emotions of Texans as the ran from the Mexican Tyrant, Santa Anna!

Progressive Thinking,

C.S.
