A Manufacturing Revolution!

"A 3-D printer, which has nothing to do with paper printers, creates an object by stacking one layer of material — typically plastic or metal — on top of another, much the same way a pastry chef makes baklava with sheets of phyllo dough." - Ashlee Vance, New York Times Reporter
Recently in our PCMS Media Team course we investigated 3-D printing. That's no typo, I wrote 3-D Printing! 3-D printing is the newest stage of project demonstration and product development. Through an article that we found in the New York Times, we investigated the development of this revolutionary prouduct, and inferred how it may change our future. Take a look at some of the significant quotes I pulled from our colleagues' writing.

"[S]ome companies like GM (General Motors) will get rid of a lot of workers and probably not need assembly lines anymore." - F.A.

"If I could afford or borrow a 3-D printer, I would show it off at school. I would be like, "Oh yeah, you like this? There is no need to answer." - A.C.

"If we want to build a building, all we need is a bigger 3-D printer." - J.P.

Whether you truly believe that 3-D printing is the wave of the future, or something that is far off, take a moment to read the article and check out the video.

Progressive Thinking,

C.S.
